Participation in the project “Support for Enterprises in Energy Modernization During Wartime”

To bolster the energy efficiency of industrial enterprises amidst wartime challenges, the public organization “International Development Foundation” effectively executed the project “Support for Enterprises in Energy Modernization During Wartime”. This project is a part of the initiative “Promoting Energy Efficiency and Implementing the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine,” led by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ in German, and co-financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO.

We at UKRGRAFIT enthusiastically embraced this initiative and successfully secured grant funding amounting to 10,000 euros. With GIZ’s financial backing, we executed an energy-saving measure, specifically targeting the reduction of energy costs in the technological process of removing bulk from the muffles of a multi-chamber baking furnace. This involved the installation of a variable frequency drive on a ROBUSCHI blower rated at 132 kW.

Thanks to the collaborative effort of specialists from various departments within UKRGRAFIT, we achieved remarkable success within a tight timeframe. The project’s objective was duly accomplished, resulting in the technological apparatus for bulk removal from the kiln consuming only the requisite minimum electricity for its operation. This implementation yielded a significant 30% reduction in energy consumption within this process operation, thereby slashing consumption to 146 MWh/year.

Under the project “Support for Enterprises in Energy Modernization During Wartime”, a total of 25 manufacturing enterprises have either planned or initiated the implementation of energy efficiency measures, promising potential savings of 3000 MWh/year. Additionally, 60 employees received supplemental training on energy efficiency, while webinars and training sessions reached an audience of at least 3,000 individuals.

We are delighted to have gained invaluable experience through collaboration with grant organizations in the realm of energy efficiency and extend sincere gratitude to the organizers and sponsors for affording us this opportunity. This successful project serves as a testament to our steadfast belief: “Together we reach success!”
