Electrode Paste

The Electrode Paste is an exceptional carbon-based material with remarkable properties that eliminate the need for baked electrodes. Instead, an electrode can be directly formed during the melting process. As the paste traverses through various temperature zones, its structure undergoes transformation, turning into a coked conductor of electricity – commonly known as a continuous self-baking electrode or Soderberg electrode.

The self-baking electrode is the heart of most ore-reduction furnaces worldwide. Its vital role involves carrying current from the transformer to the melting zone, generating the essential heat for metallurgical reactions.

In 1939, UKRGARFIT achieved a significant milestone by producing the first commercial batch of electrode paste. Today, our paste continues to play a crucial role in the successful smelting of ferrochromium, silicomanganese, ferrosilicon, and various other processes in furnaces of diverse capacities, adapting to different operating conditions. We take great pride in our extensive experience in production, accumulated over many years, which has enabled us to become a trusted partner for numerous metallurgical companies around the globe.

At UKRGARFIT, our dedication to advancement is unyielding and our R&D center is constantly striving to improve the properties of electrode paste. The hard work of our skilled scientists and technologists revolves around ensuring stable electrode performance for our clients, while also aiming to reduce the specific paste consumption in their operating processes and implementing eco-friendly technologies.
