The construction and operation of the Dnipro Hydroelectric Station on the powerful Dnipro River, one of the longest rivers in Europe, marked a significant milestone. The abundant reserves of metal ores and coal deposits in Ukraine served as the driving force behind the establishment of a vast industrial complex.

Our foundation was laid when we were known as Dnipro Electrode Plant. The industrial production of anodes for aluminum electrolytic cells commenced on September 21, 1933, marking the birth of our company. During the 1930s, we also initiated the production of carbon electrodes, electrode paste, anode paste, and lining paste.

During the Second World War, our main facilities suffered severe damage. To safeguard our equipment, employees, and their families, we organized evacuations. Following the war, we swiftly restored the plant and its production capacity. We not only resumed production but also expanded our operations by introducing the manufacturing of anodes for the chemical industry. Additionally, we constructed a new machining shop to further enhance our capabilities.

During our 25th-anniversary celebration, we proudly inaugurated state-of-the-art equipment for the production of large-sized carbon electrodes and carbon blocks. This marked a significant milestone for us. With the new equipment, we commenced the production of electrodes with a diameter ranging from 500 to 550 mm. The introduction of these larger electrodes expanded our capabilities and allowed us to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

We took pride in being one of the pioneers in mastering industrial direct current graphitization. As a testament to our progress, we successfully produced the first graphite electrode with a diameter of 700 mm. During this time, we also launched new automated machining lines. These advancements in our manufacturing processes enhanced efficiency and productivity, positioning us at the forefront of the industry.

We initiated the production of carbon blocks used for lining blast furnaces, further expanding our product offerings. Simultaneously, we embarked on a large-scale reconstruction project in collaboration with the Ukrainian Titanium Institute. Alongside the expansion efforts, we also successfully mastered the manufacturing technology of electrodes with a needle-coke base. This technological advancement enabled us to enhance the quality and performance of our electrodes, solidifying our position in the market.

As we reached our 50th anniversary, we celebrated a significant milestone in our journey. During this time, we remained committed to expanding our potential and capabilities. We successfully established the production of fine-grained high-density graphite and ventured into the manufacturing of other composite materials. Additionally, we opened new departments, workshops, and industrial sites, further expanding our infrastructure and operational capacity. These developments positioned us for continued growth and success in the years to come.

Our electrode plant underwent a transformation and was bestowed with a new name - "Ukrainsky Grafit" This name change not only represented our deep affection and reverence for our roots but also symbolized our commitment to producing high-quality artificial graphite products. In line with our expansion plans, we embarked on constructing a new workshop dedicated to manufacturing carbon blanks and a new department for coal pitch impregnating. These initiatives showcased our dedication to continuous growth and improvement, enabling us to better serve our customers and meet the evolving demands of the industry.

UKRGRAFIT underwent a thorough certification process to ensure compliance with the ISO series standards. This certification reaffirmed our commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and practices in our operations. During this period, we successfully introduced new brands of carbon lining blocks and expanded our product portfolio by releasing anodes for the magnesium industry, impregnated with inorganic compounds.

We established a new production facility equipped with 11 furnaces for lengthwise graphitization. Furthermore, we embarked on a comprehensive equipment renewal initiative, upgrading 80% of our production equipment. As a result of our commitment to excellence, we became trusted suppliers to some of the world's most powerful Aluminum smelters, providing them with high-quality graphite cathode blocks. Additionally, we introduced Söderberg electrode paste in block form, further diversifying our range of offerings.

We are deeply aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, as they reflect our commitment to creating a more equitable and sustainable world. In 2020, we made significant strides by installing advanced equipment incorporating regenerative thermal oxidation technology for complete air purification. This investment demonstrated our dedication to environmental responsibility and reducing our carbon footprint. Moreover, we have been actively implementing our development plan for the period from 2020 to 2030, focusing on the implementation of green technologies and the comprehensive transformation of our main operational processes. By embracing these initiatives, we aim to foster sustainable practices, contribute to a greener future, and align our operations with global sustainability objectives.
